On March 17th the first meeting of the National Coordinating Committee of the BRICS Network University took place in Moscow
On March 17th the first meeting of the National Coordinating Committee of the BRICS Network University took place in Moscow at Higher School of Economics. National Coordinating Committee is a board of the Russian Universities that entered the BRICS Network University.
According to the order of the Ministry of Education of Russian Federation the BRICS Network University includes the following Russian Universities:
1 MGIMO University
2 Lomonosov Moscow State University
3 MIPT (Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology)
4 MISIS (Moscow National University of Science and Technology)
5 Tomsk Polytechnic University
6 Higher School of Economics, Moscow
7 MPEI, National Research University, Moscow
8 TSU, National Research Tomsk State University
9 Russian University of Peoples Friendship
10 St-Petersburg State University
11 ITMO University, St-Petersburg
12 URFU, Ural Federal University
The representatives from each of these universities, the director of the department of the State Policy in Higher Education of the Ministry of Education of Russian Federation, A.B. Sobolev, as well as the deputy-director of the same department, V.S. Timonin, became the members of the National Coordinating Committee.
During the meeting the NCC discussed various important questions of the establishment of the BRICS Network University, including: the election of the head of the BRICS NU NCC; the participation of Russian universities in International Thematic Groups; the defining the universities-coordinators of the priority areas of the BRICS NU.
The NCC approved the list of the members of the International Thematic Groups in the priority fields of the BRICS NU (energy, computer science and informational security, ecology and climate changes, BRICS studies, economics, water resourses and pollution treatment). Russian participation in each of the ITGs will be coordinated by a specific university. UrFU is held responsible for the BRICS studies, HSE for the economics, MPEI – energy, ITMO – informational security, TPU – water resourses, TSU – ecology and climate changes.
Russian NCC elected the head of the BRICS NU NCC and Russian representatives for the international governing board of the BRICS NU. M. Khomyakov, the director of the BRICS studies centre became the elected head of the BRICS NU NCC. A.Sobolev. V.Timonin, M.Khomyakov became Russian representatives in IGB.
NCC also discussed the details of the program of the conference, which will take place at UrFU in Ekaterinburg, on April 6-9th, 2016.
